Seth Godin has released a free ebook to stimulate the inquiring mind. I haven’t started reading the book yet but a quick glance has told me that the style is lively and the vocabulary rich and diverse. Words classifiable in four different ways as either a noun, adjective, verb or adverb, are very useful when trying to understand the semantic relationships that can exist between words and defined in Wordnet. You may or may not know that Wordnet is a free lexical database of English available from Stanford University. The main semantic relationships that are defined between words in Wordnet are Synonymy, Antonymy, Hypernymy, Hyponymy, Meronymy, Holonymy, and Troponymy. Why not download Wordnet and type in one of the 56 words listed below and explore these relationships.

A nice short introduction to Web 2.0 is contained in this white paper from mercury tide. Actually, I thought the article was quite long but it maybe possible that younger people assimilate information a lot faster than I do. According to the “Flynn Effect”, there has been a world wide rise in average IQ over the past 100 years or so. While some scholars disagree it would appear that each generation is more intelligent than the last. I guess I’ll have to buy Eysenck’s book, “Test your IQ”. Apparently, your intelligence improves as you read the book!
